Discover Scuba Diving in Hawaii
Even if you are not certified you have the possibility to experience Oahu's beautiful underwater world through our guided introductory dives; no experience necessary!
Pool Session with Skill Development Included!
Why Island Divers Hawaii has the best Discover Scuba Diving Program on Oahu:
Island Divers Hawaii, with our excellent staff of dedicated dive professionals, top notch facilities, and outstanding service would be a great choice for your first diving experience even without this great advantage - our dive center pool.
Island Divers Hawaii is the only dive center on Oahu with a pool on location. This means that our divers get to try scuba diving for the first time from the safety of the shallow end of a crystal clear and calm swimming pool. Other companies will not offer you this option; it is straight into the ocean with their clients. Ask them! You might hear a number of reasons, but the reality is that they don't have a pool option, and we do!
Island Divers Hawaii's Discover Scuba Diving program for first timers that includes a pool session and 2 full length dives on the ocean at two different dive sites is clearly the best value and safest program on the island of Oahu.
Practice in pool = more time for fun in the ocean!
In the pool we’ll have you practice a couple of basic skills such as purging water from your mask, clearing your regulator, and equalizing your ears and mask (there will also be plenty of time to play around). This means that no time will be wasted in the ocean and you’ll get to enjoy more of our beautiful reefs!
Ocean Dives are fun and relaxed!
From a dive boat we will take you on 2 dives to a maximum depth of 40 feet for about 4o minutes (or to when we reach a certain level of air in our tanks). Turtles, eels, and Hawaii's state fish humuhumunukunuku-a-pua'a are just some of the hundreds of creatures you might see. The feeling of weightlessness is hard to describe, it has to be experienced!

Common Questions
Can anyone do it?
Almost! You need to be 12 years or older and in good health since diving does put stress on your body. Before doing any dives we will ask you a couple of questions regarding any medical problems (medical form). These include questions regarding recent surgery, ear and sinus problems, heart and lung problems, and drug use. If you have any doubts please call us and we'll help you with any questions.
I've tried diving down in a pool but my ears hurt, will I be able to dive?
Probably. Because the pressure increases quickly underwater we need to equalize the air spaces in our ears. We will teach you how to do this safely, it is very easy! Sometimes, however, it might not work, especially if you have a cold (or other congestion).
Will I get pictures from my dives?
Because of safety concerns your instructor will not take pictures of you during the dives. If you do want pictures from your dives we can add an additional staff at extra cost.
You can also purchase a waterproof camera at the shop for $20 and take your own pictures! Or why not hire a professional underwater videographer to film you during your dives?
