What is Wreckspedition?
An all day charter that will focus on wreck diving up and down the southern coast of Oahu. Four dives, four wrecks.
The plan
Show up at the Hawaii Kai shop at 6am sharp. Sign your waiver and move right to the boat to set up gear. All the tanks will be on the boat already, as well as a hardy lunch. Limit 12 divers on the Sea Fox. We want to get off the dock before 6:30am so that we don’t have to wait for the first dive at the Corsair. One and a half hour surface interval and then dive the Sea Tiger. Lunch over another one and a half hour surface interval and dive the Navy Tug. Another one and half hour surface interval and back to the YO-257 (or if dive computers are screaming maybe back to the Baby Barge). We estimate that we will be at back at the dock by 4pm.
Possibility: if the weather is epic flat then we pivot to other side of island. Dive sites: Palea Point, Rabbit Island, Mokulua off Kailua, and last dive back at Rabbit Island or exploration at Makapu’u lighthouse. This has got to be unanimous, but those of you that are local can explain to the visitors just how rare an opportunity to do those dives really is, and can probably get them to come around.
This all day trip is going to be priced at $395, but club members can call it in for $295 plus cost of nitrox if you have your own gear.
Why is Nitrox recommended?
Because we will be doing 4 dives in the same day, we will be getting close to our no decompression limits. To help alleviate this, we recommend doing at least 2 of the dives on a nitrox 32% blend. This will help to keep us in the water longer, and reduce the impact of nitrogen narcosis, which we will cover more during the course. Diving on nitrox can also reduce tiredness post-dive, which can add up on a 4 dive day.
