DIVING ON A WWII LANDING CRAFT! 21 dec

we call it the LCU for short, and it stands for Landing Craft Unit.  and it also stands for Landing Craft Upsidedown!  when this ship was purposely sunk to create an artificial reef, it flipped upside down.  Due to its slightly concave shape, and the rear wheelhouse this upside-down wreck has a very cool aspect for us divers.  and that is there is a marvelous space underneath the wreck that is habitually occupied by white tip sharks.  this is often where we choose to dive, when our divers want to see sharks!  after checking out the sharks underneath, we often see small groups of eagle rays circumnavigating the wreck.  so – a great dive site for some cool big stuff!  today we saw sharks and eagle rays, plus moray eels, and a large barracuda!  great dive.  2nd jump was a drift of Spitting Cave, and it was spectacular!  more sharks, huge turtles, octopus, scorpion fish, and a giant sponge crab appeared as we drifted the beautiful lava formations shaped by the ocean!  another home run!  thanks to all for safe diving!  larry, kendal
