Sea Fox Specialty $50
Ever wanted to drive the Sea Fox dive boat? Here is your chance to learn! Get familiar with the safety procedures on the boat, how to use GPS navigation, and the general skills necessary to be a boat captain. Only can be done at Island Divers. Check out the Sea Fox Specialty Student Manual.
Honu Specialty $50
Only here can you learn about the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle (Honu), what they feed on, its environment within it thrives, predator threats, lifespan, and much more. The best part of this specialty is learning how to approach a Green Sea Turtle so a photographer can get an epic photo of you.
Search and Recovery $200
Learn about search patterns, specialized dive plans, underwater communication, and how to recover small to medium-sized objects using specialized equipment like lift bags.
Wreck Diving $250
This program gives you the skills and knowledge required to safely scuba dive above and around these underwater treasures.
Advanced Wreck Diving $250
This program allows limited penetration into wrecks. The training requires overhead buoyancy control, new finning techniques, optional laying safety line and the proper use of a light. The program can be completed wearing a single cylinder with a redundant air source.
Boat Diving $150
This program gives you the skills and knowledge required to safely dive from a boat, allowing you to get the most from your underwater opportunities.
Waves and Tides (Drift Diving) $200
This program gives you the skills and knowledge required to conduct dives from shore, in currents, and in different types of waves.
Coral Identification $150
This program teaches you the skills and concepts required to recognize and identify common families of coral species.
Equipment Techniques & Maintenance $200
Equipment Techniques teaches you how to choose, maintain and store your Total Diving System. This ensures performance and increases the longevity of your equipment.
Science of Diving $250
An in-depth and detailed study of physics, physiology, decompression theory, the aquatic environment and diving equipment. It is required training for most SSI Dive Professional programs, as well as some Extended Range programs.
Fish ID $125
This non-diving specialty program teaches you the skills and concepts required to identify the common families of Caribbean, Indo-Pacific, and Red Sea reef fish.
Night Diving $200
You will learn how to enter and exit the water, use specialized equipment, and how to communicate and dive with a buddy at night or in limited visibility.
Deep Diving $250
This will give you the ability to safely and comfortably plan and conduct dives beyond 18 meters and is a prerequisite for some advanced training. Requires 3 dives.
Perfect Buoyancy $200
This program teaches you the skills and techniques needed to maximize your dive experience, increase your comfort in the water, and get the most from your equipment.
Navigation $200
You will learn how to use a compass and natural navigation techniques, estimate distance, basic navigation patterns and how to leave and return to a designated point.
Photo & Video $150
This program teaches the skills and concepts required to successfully capture amazing underwater photos and videos. (Student must provide camera)
Marine Ecology/Underwater Naturalist $125
This program allows you to study of how organisms interact with each other and the environment, the flow of energy through communities, and the link between ocean ecosystems.
Sea Turtle Ecology $125
This program teaches the skills and concepts required to recognize and identify common species of sea turtles and explains their role in the ocean’s ecosystems.
