OCTOPUS ARE STRONG !! 12 October
another great dive day on the books, as we took the barge out for an afternoon of students and certs. I had julia doing her Advanced Open Water, and Jeffrey doing his Open Water 3/4! great divers both! current is still moon-strong, but we had good viz at our first site, Pa’ava. Pa’ava has a concentration of fish in one spot, really fun to swim through and be surrounded by shoaling reef fish! we found a huge octopus who tried to pull me into his little den, and i really had to work to escape his grip!! instructor Dave had some certs out for fun, laura and moss from australia, locals julie and dad, plus Howard the quarry-master from Michigan. 2nd jump was Anglers Ledge and we had a great drift back to the boat, spotting some huge eels, a couple of scorpion fish, helmet conch, and more schools of shoaling fish, particularly long-tail banner fish! thanks to all for safe diving! larry, dave, and capt. neil
