CORSAIR ! 6 January

The Corsair airplane wreck site is probably the most requested dive for us.  and well it should be, as it is a unique and fascinating wreck!  the body still has the propeller and tail attached, with wings on either side in the sand.  the cockpit and engine are solid, and even the frame for the windscreen is still there.  today the current was moderately strong, but we dropped down the line spotting the myriad schools of fish that make their home there. surrounding the plane are hundreds of garden eels, and often there are big eels, frogfish, and octopus in the wreck. at 107 feet of depth, it is also a site where we occasionally see pelagics, including sharks and dolphins, and even a whale or two!  biggest problem is that it is only a 15 minute bottom time, unless you are nitrox certified!  today i found a big sponge crab, who was using a coconut half-shell for a disguise!  2nd jump was the other highly requested dive, Sea Cave.  it was beautiful, with turtles and sharks inside and out.  exiting, we did a nice long drift towards Hanauma bay, spotting more turtles and large shoals of reef fish.  thanks to all for safe diving,  larry, max, capt. joe
