Moving on up to the East Side!!! -1-08-2015-
This morning on the Sea Fox were joined by a mixed bag of divers from around the world. Surface conditions were absolutely perfect: Light & variable winds and absolutely no swell. Everybody knew what was on Captain Kendal’s mind before the boat fired up, we’d be going to the East Side to dive.
Skimmon’s Reef
69ft – 40min *Drift*
73 degrees
With a prevailing current the diver’s dropped into 90 ft visibility. The stunning landscape unfurled before the diver’s eyes. The massive coral heads jut up from the 70 foot bottom to a height of 35 feet were teeming with sea life. Massive schools of yellow tangs, and butterfly fish surrounded the divers while a couple of turtles and a single white tip reef shark briefly buzzed the group.
Palea Point
70ft – 40min *Drift*
73 Degrees
The conditions continued to stay absolutely amazing. The boat lightly tossed on the surface as the divers entered into another prevailing current, this time with 100 ft visibility. A massive school of Moorish Idols enveloped the group as they descending. During the dive a couple of turtles, a massive moray eel, and a slumbering sandbar shark captivated the group. Once the group drifted to the point the bottom dropped out to 100 ft unveiling a stunning shear rock wall formation that was teeming with coral and life. From the bottom to the top, the visibility was perfect.
Special thanks to Captain Kendal, Ash, & Ashley for making these amazing dives possible.
