Maxine Markert was born in the land of 10,000 Lakes (Minnesota). She has been skiing, knee boarding, boating, and swimming from a very early age. As an avid water lover and admirer of everything below the surface, She took her first diving class in Grand Cayman at 16. Realizing her passion for the ocean and its creatures, she moved to Hawaii in August 2011. Currrently she attends Kapi’olani Community College pursuing a degree as physical therapist assistant. She has moved up the ranks of diving, starting as rescue diver, to dive master, on to Open water Instructor here with us at Island Divers. If she is not underwater you will see her on the boat as crew, assistant mechanic on the Sea Fox, and captain in training. Maxine has the perfect balance of high energy mixed with high competency. She understands the majestic beauty of whales breaching, a flock of eagle rays gliding, and fragility of the coral reefs. ”Let me show you the Pacific Ocean as only Island divers can!”
