Ocean Defenders Alliance Clean Up Dive – February 8th, 2020
When: Feb 8, 20201pmTime:
An established group of dedicated volunteers has formed on the island of Oahu. Ocean Defenders Alliance (ODA), a marine conservation nonprofit based in California, is partnering with Island Divers Hawaii. Dr. Zimmerman and his team have long dived to remove debris from the oceans, and are happy to find a nonprofit partner doing the same! Together we are hosting a series of monthly Clean Up Dives out of Hawaii Kai. The Portlock, or “China” Wall has long been a popular shore fishing spot. We are regularly able to recover over 100lbs of fishing lead and 500 yards of lost line entangled in the reef. The amount of little that is recovered varies from month to month.
This event has been happening monthly since 2017, because of the strong and continued support of Ocean Defenders Alliance. As far as we are aware it is the most regular and consistent ocean clean up effort in the state of HI. Funded by non profits, citizen donations, and in kind donations by small business and without using taxpayer dollars. Hele on ODA and Island Divers!
This One Tank Dive boat dive will be available for just a $10 Donation.
Participants must be at least Rescue Diver Certified. Please bring your dive knife.
There are only 20 spots available each month so book your spots in advance!
