Bonaire Dive Trip Sept 11th to 18th, 2021 - trip report by video - Island Divers Hawaii

Trip went off fairly smoothly, one person got held up with a test that didn’t come in, but they had trip insurance (smart). We all had a good time and there were no Wilson’s present! Good story, had to be there. Here is a video I put together for the week Enjoy!

Date Change for Bonaire Dive Trip

We are moving the trip to Sept 11th – 18th 2021 to give the world a chance to get vaccinated. Interestingly we’ll be flying on the 20th anniversary of 9/11. I’d expect a little longer at the TSA lines. If you flights work out better to leave on the 19th I can add a day to your package, just let me know.

Dive and Drive:

$889 non-diver deluxe
$1919 single occupancy, deluxe room

Dive and Drive Package includes 3 boat dives

All packages include $45 Marine Park Fee – new this year

All packages include Salt Pier Night Dive Pizza Party -new this year

Add nitrox for the week, $110, down from $130 last year – cool!

Add lunch daily $171 (I don’t recommend for people getting truck, as we’ll be out most days during lunch).

This is a reschedule of the cancelled 2020 trip, and prices are the same. Saweeet! Only 4 Deluxe room available, after that it is upgrade to studios (which are next the to pier and gear storage, so that is nice)

Bonaire is a Classic

I’ve been leading dive trips for the better part of the last 20 years, we keep coming back here. We love the freedom of planning your own schedule and the absolute easy of the shore diving from the back of the truck.

Boat and shore diving (with 3 boat dives) packages are the same prices (some variation on single occ) – boat divers don’t get the truck rental but get 11 total boat dives. See details on the flyer below. We are sure this Bonaire dive trip will be as epic as the rest. Here is a link to a previous trip report for what to expect from the diving.

Divi Resort has become our goto resort. Walking distance to town and a ton of restaurants there, it allows our bigish groups to split up or congregate as they see fit for dinner. Breakfast buffet becomes the “hey, what are you doing today” event. Dive groups break out from there, sometimes big ones, some people do their own thing. We’ll all be getting together as a group for the boat dives to Klein Bonaire, and for a night dive at Salt Pier at least.

Matt and Sheila are going to be doing the shore diving package with 3 boat dives. If you sign up for the boat diving package, you can still shore dive as much as you like from the resort. You can probably get a ride from someone that has the shore diving package and a truck. And if you are on the shore diving package and decide you want more than the 3 boat dives included you can always pick up a few more boat dives. These are around $40 per dive. They make it pretty easy.

Can I go on this dive trip?

Pretty often now I’m getting the question, “Can we join you on that dive trip?” I think this comes from the fact that we have been doing trips like this for quite a while now, and all over the world and a lot of the trip participants are the same people. But the answer is “yes!”. As long as you are easy going and fun loving, we would love to have you along and bring you into a fun group of dive buddies. Doesn’t matter how you heard about the trip, if you did, you can come. Age range is from the early 20s to mid-70s. We are all there for the diving, though the younger part of the crowd might be up a little later, lol. Thank god for nitrox! So, you are all welcome, and if we don’t know you yet, just show up ready to make some new friends!

Salt Pier Pizza Party

On our Feb 2019 trip we all decided to chip in and get pizza and go to the Salt Pier for a night dive. What that ended up being was an extremely enjoyable evening hanging out on the beach enjoying the sunset over pizza and beer, pretty much everyone was there. Since it was so much fun it is now and event, and if you signed up for the trip I’ve already collected pizza money. Just let me know if you want cheese or veggie because I’m a pepperoni and meat lover guy. If you are on the boat package we’ll make sure you get a ride out. After the sun sets there will be a night dive out to the Salt Pier, probably one before the sunset too. It is a good dive. This dive is always a highlight, and we’ll do it early in the trip as you may want to do it again.
