Expectation:

Cuba is a very new destination for US travelers, expect an adventure, some of this information, especially people to people tours, may change from now until departure date, but there will be fun stuff to explore and great diving!

Inclusions:

Airfare to/from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Airport transfers in Cuba. Transportation between hotels. Lodging at Melia Hotel Cayo Santa Maria, all inclusive. (7 nights) Five days of two tank boat diving (tours for non divers). Required daily people to people educational tours. Two nights at the Iberostar Parque Central with magnificent views of old Havana and a beautiful rooftop terrace with pool and bar. (Includes breakfast)

Exclusions:

Airline baggage fees. Visa fees (at airport) currently $85. Meals other than breakfast in Havana. Telephone and internet usage costs. Additional pm dives $40.

Cuba has been recently opened up to American travelers. It isn’t easy getting details yet, but we are doing our best!
Our plane disembarks in Santa Clara, from there we have about a 90 minute drive through countryside and over a long bridge to Cayo Santa Maria island. (A small island located off of the North coast.) The North islands are a part of a larger archipelago known as “King’s Garden” which in turn is a part of Buenavista Biosphere Reserve, recognized by UNESCO.

From Cayo Santa Maria, our beachside resort will give us easy access to the healthy reef. According to Nature Conservancy, limited development along the more than 3000 miles of coastline means the four reef systems remain unspoiled, teeming with life. In the 1990’s, Cuba took bold action to create extensive coral reef preserves. Legal action prevents development along the coasts of these areas leaving healthy, bountiful coral gardens and life. Groupers, tarpon, eels, sharks, jacks, turtles, barracuda, snappers, stingrays, angelfish and beautiful reef await us.
