March 20, 2014- Cigar Wrasse & Blue Goat Fish: Tango
Thursday morning dives with Luca, Dave, and Ken were very tight. After dropping on LCU with little to no current it was impossible not to notice this dynamic duo. See Video Clip Below! Cigar wrasse and Blue Goat fish were as tight as any buddy team I’ve ever seen. It made me wonder what makes these animals choose a certain fish over another? I know this wrasse is buddying up with the goat fish for the goat fish’s foraging abilities, but the goat fish hardly forages in this video! It seems to be enjoy the company more than anything. Whatever goes on in those fishy minds, I’d love to know.
We hit of fantasy reef for the second dive and our club member Dave Sanchez got to come face to…tail with a white tip reef shark in the middle of a swim through. Exciting! This shark clearly got startled from it’s nap and couldn’t wait for us to scram. One things for sure after today’s dives, we aren’t the only ones who like to cruise around underwater with our buddies.

Davy
