Octopus in the Camera Lens at Our Favorite Dive Site in Honolulu!

we had a blast today diving with the fantastic Hawaiin green sea turtles.  first we moored up at Baby barge, and made our way down the line to the wreck.  sure enough, right in front of us, two huge turtles chilling under the ledge in front of the wreck.  these guys can be 5 feet long, and 80 years old, and are rather regal as they occasionally glance over at us passing divers, calmly acknowledging our visit to their home.  they are beautiful to see as they climb toward the surface for their periodic breaths of air. we also saw an octopus, and several big eels.  nice!!  2nd jump was a drift of staff favorite, Fantasy reef.  i don’t think i’ve ever had a bad dive there – there is so much to see!  colorful hard coral, lava-created topography, arches, swim-throughs, and more huge turtles!!  great day for those big guys!  no octopus, but tons of reef fish, and a huge eagle ray!  thanks to all for safe diving, larry, joe, jeremy, kevin

Red, White and Blue LCU and Fantasy Reef Dives in Oahu!

What a star spangled day for two Amazing dives.  Our back drop was beautiful Diamond Head with Old Glory blowing in the slight breeze.  We defended on LCU (max depth 95 feet) with very little current and 100 ft viz.  There was a huge Hawaiian Green Sea (Honu) Turtle and also the schooling eagle rays.  The dive was perfect.  Returning to the boat we all were happy to swap our sighting stories and took a few minutes for our great photo opportunity.

After our surface interval we went to Fantasy Reef (max depth 55 feet).  The current had picked up making it ideal for a drift dive.  We were greeted there with many many of the Honu, eels and so many of the amazing fish only Hawaii has to offer.  We are lucky that way.  What a stand out day for our divers and the perfect way to start this holiday off right.  Many came for fun….Tony opted to do the Discover Nitrox experience that we offer at Island Divers. He was so pleased with it stayed and completed the certification after the dive.  Congratulations Tony on your new PADI Enriched Air Certification!!!  Happy and Safe 4th of July to all, thank you for making this a great day!!!

Resident Moray Eel found in the Corsair Wreck during a Night Dive in Honolulu!

IMG_0842This was the view on the boat we had tonight.  What a way to welcome in July!!!  Our first stop was the Corsair (Max depth was 107 feet).  The conditions were perfect there, just a slight current.  Big Bertha, the resident moray eel was there to see us and plenty of other fish too.  It was a first time for most on the boat to visit this wreck and they were not disappointed.  Our second dive was a drift on Keanu Reef (max depth 75 feet).  There we finished up Chris’s PADI Night Diver Specialty!!  He did an awesome job!!  Lane and Ole spent lots of time looking around in all the cracks and ledges.  We had the help of a huge full moon tonight that made this whole charter just fantastic!!!  We were joined by some of the crew also that just couldn’t pass up a dive Hollis, Ryan and Beau!
