The day started out with some beautiful blue skies here on Maunalua Bay. We had a full boat, lots of students and some down right happy divers. Baby Barge was our first site of the day. We had some current today but all of our divers were up for the challenge. We were visited by […]
About Mary Christensen
Always in the search of adventure, paired with a quest for knowledge, learning and wisdom, Mary has tuned her life very thoughtfully to reflect her love for life, learning and joyful connections with people and the oceans. Mary is a consumate believer in ocean conservation, learning and continuing education—it’s a focus for how she instructs.
It started young—her father was a Navy SEAL, and instilled a sense of survival smarts, thrill and hunger to learn and master any new skill. But she brings her own spirit of optimism, patience and gentleness that balances her coaching, responsibility and professionalism. An Master Instructor, these values are now shared by numerous divers who’ve come from under her wing.
For the past 34 years, her dives across the northern and southern hemispheres… are the ones we would want as our own stories to share over food and drink:
Diving in frigid waters of the pacific north-west and the brutal harshness of the atlantic’s north-east
Basking in the abundance of sea life while island hopping the caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico
Near Bonaire, heartbreakingly ethereal and hauntingly breathtaking dawn and dusk dives, while thousands of creole wrasse enveloped you in a cloud
Near the Bahamas, spearfishing lion fish with a brood of reef sharks following—trying to teach the sharks to eat the invasive lion fish
Near Curacao, swimming through the forest of huge Alice-in-Wonderland’esque mushroom coral blooms
Near Honduras, even the moray eels would rub up next to you like latin lovers
Love for the Arts, Food, Travel and Adventure…..Come dive and explore the amazing Hawaii sites with her.

The sun was out all morning, the winds were light and the waves were down. This was the makings for a perfect day of diving. We headed to Kahala Barge as our first dive today. This was super fun for some of our visiting tech divers, the got to make their way through the wreck. […]
It was a blustery start to the day today but the weather cleared quickly as the dive boat headed out to the sites. We drifted off the LCU wreck today and headed west after that. The barracuda were out like crazy today, hundreds of them. We explored parts of the ocean floor that we seldom […]
The sun was shining and the divers ready to take on the morning dives. We started with a trip to the Corsair but the current was a bit strong. As divers do we changed up our plan and headed to Baby Barge. On the way there the last of the whales gave us a lovely […]
Yan and Si came out for an amazing dive today. They braved the winds we had this morning and went to LCU and Fantasy Reef today. This is a preview of Shark, Rays, Eels, Oh My Monday! AM 1/30. Read the full post
The winds had died down from the weekend and we pulled out of the marina heading to LCU. The water was clear and the viability was amazing. There was a slight current but it was no challenge for our set of fantastic divers. As we dropped on the wreck we were met but a huge […]
The water was glassy and clear this Monday morning. A beautiful day for a dive, always nice with winter here and we get these conditions. The first thing we saw as we dropped down on LCU was a very pregnant white tip reef shark. She really wanted nothing to do with us but she didn’t […]
LCU is always amazing for sea life and today was no different. We dropped down and right off the bat we saw 8 eagle rays!! So exciting to see so many at once. We took a look under the wreck then out the other side. When we were exploring the z blocks and culvert pipes […]
The skies were grey and threatening rain but we made it away from the dock before that happened. The group was intimate which always makes for a fun boat. LCU as always was a crowd pleaser. Dropping in on the wreck there was a light current but at the bottom was fantastic. We were visited […]
Diving on Saturday morning is the perfect start to a weekend. We had light trade winds and our seas were calm. Greeted at New Barge with 150+ feet of visibility. Ed was doing his PADI Wreck Spec on this dive so he was laying line inside the wreck on this dive. The rest of us […]
