Soaring with Eagle Rays

It was an exceptional dive day off the Sea Fox today. It was a windy day but underwater was wonderful. We headed for Waikiki to start out the three tanker where it is calmer than in Maunalua Bay and tied up at the YO-257 for the first dive.  There was a little bit of a current but great viz as we hit the water.  Right away we found a turtle resting on the stern of the wreck and a couple more about the site.  There were fish everywhere with large schools of goatfish and snapper around both the YO and the San Pedro. We had a great time swimming in and out of the wrecks and watching the Atlantis Sub cruise by but soon it was time to head up but we had a couple spotted eagle rays cruise by before going up the line.

For the second dive we motored to the Sea Tiger and again had great viz and little current as we got to the bottom.  Right as we got to the wreck three spotted eagle rays went swimming over the site. There were also turtles all around the wreck along with schools of pennant butterflyfish and blue stripe snappers.

For the last dive we dove Hawaii Loa Crater. This is a great reef that we don’t get to dive often as it can have bad viz quickly, nut today was perfect. There was little current and wonderful viz.  There were fish everywhere including damselfish and wrasses plus a few octopus hiding in the reef.  We also had eels hiding all over the reef, but the best siting was the school of 9 spotted eagle rays to cruise by the edge of the reef.
